Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 79th Independence Day address, describing it as “excellent and inspiring” for its emphasis on national progress, security, and the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
In a post on X, Singh said, “An excellent and inspiring address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji from the ramparts of the Red Fort, in which he highlighted many subjects and emphasised on accomplishing the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He presented a roadmap of India’s progress and national security… I congratulate Modiji for his wonderful speech.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also hailed the speech, calling it a “roadmap” for India’s future. He pointed to initiatives such as ‘Operation Sindoor’ to eliminate terrorism, ‘Mission Sudarshan Chakra’ to safeguard critical infrastructure, and the ‘High-Powered Demography Mission’ to ensure an infiltrator-free India.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi unfurled the tricolour at the Red Fort, marking his 12th Independence Day address. He urged citizens to honour the dreams of the freedom fighters and contribute to nation-building.
In his speech, Modi announced key initiatives, including the creation of India’s first semiconductor chip, indigenous jet engine development, a ₹1 lakh crore youth employment plan, and a tenfold expansion of the nuclear programme—signalling India’s readiness for major technological and economic advancements.
The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Sanjay Seth, the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and featured a ceremonial guard of honour led by Wing Commander Arun Nagar.
